Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

We decided to roll the dice on this this pizza and pasta joint a short drive from Shipyard Plantation, but doubt we'll be making a return visit. While our kids liked the lively, sports bar atmosphere and the chance to see their artwork hanging on the wall, their initial enthusiasm quickly faded when we had to wait almost 30 minutes for a pizza and a calzone. When the food finally DID show up, it wasn't exactly worth the wait -- the pizza was greasy and thin, and the calzone doughy and underdone. The beer selection was decent enough, so this place may be a perfectly good spot to watch a ballgame. But as a pizza restaurant, it was a big disappointment.

I ordered the Portobello sub on what bread as a good possibility for a vegan option. Even though I wanted a six inch sub, apparently that was not possible with the Portobello. Our server said something about not being able to cut the mushroom in half, but I didn't understand that meant I would be charged for a foot long sub until the bill came. That was disappointing because it was no bigger than a six inch sub. The fries were pretty good, I would recommend substituting them for Cole slaw for the extra dollar. The food for the four people in our party cane in two waves. Two meals came out and then it was an extra five minutes before the other meals came because apparently the kitchen ran out of cooked fries. It might not be a big deal to some people, but I hate when some people's meals to get cold while waiting on the later meals. Then when the second round of meals came out, there were missing or wrong elements on both plates, so we had to wait even longer while our server took the meals back to the kitchen for corrections. As the server took them away, she muttered "they never read my orders back there in the kitchen," so it sounded like a common occurrence. We were all fairly happy with the good that we got, but with the weird timing, food corrections, and overpriced Portobello sub, we will not be returning anytime soon.

Good choice. Had both Fat Baby's and Giuseppe's while on the island. Fat Baby definitely superior in my opinion. With both establishments, had a specialty pizza and salad. Fat Baby won on both items. Had the Fat Baby Pizza, tons of toppings to the edge of pizza, great crust. Antipasta salad was fantastic. High quality meats and veggies, good choice, would order again.
(4)Franklin H.
I really wanted to like the pizza because it is my favorite meal. I normally adhere to a paleo diet but when I need a cheat meal it is always pizza. The sauce had an after taste. The cheese was fine and crust had a slight crunch that was nice but the sauce killed it for me. Should have had the calzone.
(2)Randy D.
Very good food. We had the Italian Sub and a slice of Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Taking a lot home with us.
(4)George N.
Really great place, tasty NYC style pizza and tons of other great choices. We had sausage/pepp it was yummy. Homemade meatballs and Italian wings were also very tasty. Super friendly staff, we'll go back.
(4)Lelia H.
Holy yum! We visited this restaurant on our way off the island and loved ending our trip there. My son loved he chalkboard and proudly displayed his fat baby picture. My husband and I enjoyed the garlic knots (seriously do not leave with out trying them) we also had the pms and three cheese calzones which were delicious and huge! We ended the meal with a baby cake. Wow! We will definitely be back!
(5)Nancy K.
So many times places move into a new location and struggle. That is not the case here, we loved Fat Baby's on arrow road and love it on William Hilton too. By far the best place for pizza in Hilton Head. Love the crust thin and crisp, the sauce is perfect to our liking, and we are originally from Chicago so we are picky pizza people. The sausage is flat so we had to get use to that but its still very tastety and worth going for.
(5)Kathleen T.
Disappointing. We ordered 2 pizzas. The fat baby and a double pepperoni. The crust was tough on both. The sauce was fairly average and the toppings on the fat baby did not have much flavor. We actually threw the left overs away and with two boys that NEVER happens in our family.
(2)Dave D.
I will admit we got a takeout order here so I can't comment much about the serving staff. The atmosphere looks fun and you can purchase a Fat Baby tshirt for about any holiday. The food was phenomenal. We got pizza, chicken wings, and knots. All the food was good. It wasn't ready when I got there to pick it up and the place was packed. I waited about 10 mins longer than I was quoted but the food was worth it.
(4)Casey K.
Great local pizza!! We got the 3 cheese pizza and then made 2 others. We did a pepperoni and meatball - the meatballs were sliced, which was great and easier to eat and then we made a spinach and chicken that was loaded with cheese. Everything was delicious! We picked it up and the staff was nice and helpful and the pizza was ready when we got there. We also got the garlic knots which were a great addition as well :) Definitely would recommend it for good, local pizza!
(4)Gina H.
This is the beat pizza on the island. If you like NY style pizza this is it Awesome draft beer imports as well
(5)Stormy R.
Pizza was nothing special, just average at best. I was certainly expecting better after all the rave reviews here on Yelp. We got takeout, so perhaps that had a little something to do with it not being as great.
(3)Scott S.
We were looking forward to a good pizza for our first night on HHI, but we were really disappointed with Fat Baby Pizza. I gave two stars because it was cooked properly and did not taste bad. The problem was that it did not taste good either. It was flavorless and not worth the money. Also, although I carried it out, the dining room is very unpleasant.
(2)Lindee R.
My husband and I have never had a bad meal, from pizza to sandwiches. He claims it's the best roast beef sandwich he's ever had. Don't overlook the make your own sandwich on the back of the menu. We order 1/2, which is plenty. Staff friendly and patience. Good place for families. Expect a wait during peak times and tourist season.
(5)Lorenzo V.
Went there tonight for a slice of pie but, they were out of slices? Server did a good job offering sandwiches and a medium pie. However, I was alone and really wanted a couple slices. Very disappointing to hear after I've drove from my condo to hear I couldn't get what I came for. The beer was awesome. The hearted Ale was fresh and crisp. Altogether, nice pie shop, I just wish they would cater to their guest who visit from out of town.
(3)Robert H.
Huge slices of pizza. I had a couple totally filled me up. BBq chicken was great. Attentive staff, Friendly atmosphere. Hit the spot will be back
(4)J W.
Being from Ohio and spending the day in the ocean my family was looking for Pizza. We didn't want a chain pizza place so we checked Yelp and found Fat Baby's. It was really good pizza. Try the BBQ chicken pizza. EXCELLENT! For desert try the little cakes. Good cheesecake for a pizza joint.
(5)Gp C.
The lasagna! Get it. Pizza is great too. So is the caprese salad. And the Alfredo. It's all great.
(5)Cameron B.
A must eat. Me and my girl stop by here after getting in Late from Atlanta and had to find somewhere to eat. Glad we found this spot on yelp. If you go you have to try the dog bowl. It's huge and the calzone my girl had was huge with very good prices. Great venue with great staff.
(5)Kirstyn C.
Hands down, best pizza in Hilton Head. Friendly staff and AMAZING selection of toppings. A bit of a wait but totally worth it. Bonus, the owner is an O's fan!
(5)Sherry K.
Server was very nice and bbq chicken pizza was good and great beer selection. However, chicken fingers were overlooked (which they did take off our bill), meatballs were very hard and worst of all we tool the pizza home home and heated up the next day and there was mold growing on the cheese. Clearly not something we expected so despite good reviews we were disappointed.
(3)Rachel R.
Amazing Pizza...the best we have had! The servers were friendly and welcoming. However, the only reason they are not getting a 5 star rating from me is because the server never refilled our water.
(4)Brian C.
First trip to FB's and Hilton Head Island. Found it to have a great atmosphere and employees!!! Wife and kids settled on the Buffalo Chicken pie and they swear it was fantastic - it certainly had great presentation... I ended up going with my old reliable - the chicken parm sub. It was served with fries, pickle and get this - a quarter of a sweet stuffed pepper with prov and prosciutto. To be honest other than the pepper I really wasn't overly impressed with the sub. It certainly wouldn't hold me back from taking the fam back so I say give it a go. Especially if your looking for some variety - take the kids and enjoy.
(3)Pamela R.
My brother and I were starving after we finally arrived in Hilton Head and he was in the mood for pizza. He turned into Fat Baby's and I rolled my eyes because well....I couldn't imagine good pizza in South Carolina. Being from Connecticut, we have some of the top pizza places in the country. I'm a total pizza snob and very picky. When we got inside we ordered Garlic Knots and Buffalo Chicken pizza. I can't even express how perfect the Garlic Knots were....simply the best I've ever had! The pizza was amazing as well and I was impressed with the flavor. Turns out that the next evening we ended up going back to Fat Baby's. Since my parents are moving to the area, I will be heading here when I visit. Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. Oh....and the chocolate chip cookies are pretty awesome too. :-P
(5)Allen W.
Great pizza! Found on yelp, what a gem! Hawaiian pizza was killer. If you go read the bathroom sign for a laugh.
(5)Kristen D.
First visit to Hilton Head in 12 years and we wanted to find something good, but not too expensive. I looked on Yelp and was pleased when I read all the reviews... because the reviews were totally right! The food took a little while to get, but that's because they're baking it. I got the Fat Baby sub (if it's named after the place, it better be good). So delicious!!! Seriously the most amazing sub I can ever remember having. We're only in Hilton Head for a few more days, but it was so good that we may go back a second time before we leave the island. Go here!!!
(5)Jeffrey M.
Had the fat baby pizza and it was excellent. The staff was extra friendly and made sure that we were taken care of. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and she pointed out several items for us to choose from
(5)Valerie O.
Pizza is good for Hilton Head - not that many good options on the island. But their specialities are the subs. They have an awesome French Dip Sandwich. Pasta dishes are just okay. I had the Greek salad and it was good. Love the atmosphere but it does take awhile to get your food.
(5)Julie C.
Fantastic pizza & subs -- best on the island. Friendly & welcoming greeting makes you feel so happy to be here. Kids can draw on the big chalkboard -- they love this! Kids menu has good options & can color their own pictures to post on the walls. Owner comes over to talk to kids -- obvious that he is a happy person who relishes sharing great food & the Fat Baby story ... sorry, no spoilers here for you, you'll have to visit yourself! Everything hand & homemade -- tastes good & good for you!
(5)Lucas D.
Awesome subs. There chips are made in house, and it's worth getting them. Very laid back cool atmosphere, which is a great family experience. This is the friendliest restaurant I've been to. The owner and waiters are very friendly.
(4)John H.
This is where you want to eat pizza in HHI. The crust is thin and crispy. All ingredients are fresh making the best tasting sauce and cheese. And the staff is super friendly. The owner, Pete, comes around and makes sure everything is quality. He obviously has pride in his restaurant. This is where HHI residents eat pizza.
(5)Suzanne S.
Good pizza bc they use 00 flour which you can definitely taste the difference. Note to self return to here and do not eat at New York pizza, Will come back to try calazone and subs. Artichoke bruschetta appetizer was just okay could have used more artichoke and less spicy hot seasoning.
(4)Lynn S.
This restaurant had amazing customer service and even better subs. They had the hands down best french dip sub. They make their own mozz, fries, and chips. It has a great family friendly atmosphere.
(5)Adam F.
Got the fat baby's special pizza.... It was very good! Service was top notch. I am new to the area and I'll def be coming back.
(5)Jen H.
So disappointed with my second visit. I raved about this place to my boyfriend and sister so we went on our first night in hhi. Salad was boring and"Italian wings" were so spicy that we could barely eat them (after we specifically asked the waiter who said they were not at all spicy). Then the veggie pizza came out with barely any cheese and no flavor. I really liked the place in the old location and figured their upgraded location meant they were doing even better but sadly after a 2nd trip we will not be returning.
(1)Alex Z.
This hidden gem is where the locals eat. The pizza dough is hand tossed and not slipped through a dough flattening machine. When we arrived they were tossing dough for the large pies that would ultimately turn into the individual slices that you can order. Pizza here is thin and the crust comes out a bit crunchy with a slight chew. Not a ton of rise in the dough during cooking and not as yeasty tasting as some NY thin crust but excellent none-the-less. The sauce is tangy with a subtle sweetness. We tried the "Pys Pie" which had fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and basil. A slight twist on Neapolitan style with added pepperoni. It have to rank Fat Baby's up there as one of the better thin crust pizzas I've had in a while. Prices are very reasonable. Service is friendly and we'll definitely be back.
(4)Melody S.
Recommended by a friend. Very good food. Wood fired pIzza. Friendly owner and staff. I really liked the bbq pizza.
(5)Ashley Thomas T.
We ordered to go subs while visiting Hilton Head. We had a variety of different ones. We were all happy. I didn't like the fries personally. Service was good!
(4)Jay T.
Awesome food, environment, service, and experience. At the end of a long day of travel to HIlton Head my wife and I were craving some GOOD pizza. Not the same ole Domino Papa Pizza Hut stuff. We hit Fat Baby's with our 3 year old who was irritable and worn out and a 5 year old who was ready to play. As soon as we walked in the staff was very accommodating and took us over to their kids area complete with a chalkboard wall where we drew pics and played tic-tac-toe ( I had 2 wins and my 5 year old managed two ties so he owes me a 6 minute back rub--3 minutes per victory, what can I say..losing has consequences). We placed our order for some pizza. Our 5 year old just wanted pepperoni but we wanted BBQ chicken. Staff made a 1/2 & 1/2 for us. The crust was perfect and the pizza was delicious. Pete, the owner, was making the rounds throughout the night and you can tell that he is passionate about his food. He checked on all of his customers including us. He even went to his computer to print off a Fat Baby picture for my boys to color. He has creates a warm family environment and it's always a good sign when the locals are there chomping down the food. You will not be disappointed and we will be back. In fact, I'm probably going back again before I leave town.
(5)Joia G.
This was our first visit to Hilton Head and first restaurant stop. Great family place! The manager was interactive with the customers and entertaining. Food was really good. The kids left saying they couldn't wait to come back. Reasonably priced too. Two thumbs up!!!
(5)Shannon H.
I liked the thin hand tossed crust but not the burnt edges. Pizza was okay, but not really worth the $45 for 2 lg pizzas. My teenagers were not impressed. My husband didn't like the cost. Save your money and go elsewhere.
(2)Greg M.
Awesome pizza and Pete the owner really understands how important the customer is. Called after 1am and he still made a pizza for us to pick up. When we got there we sat at bar and had a couple beers and chatted with Pete , who at the time we had no clue was the owner. Prices we very reasonable and like I said, you can't find a nicer staff...even at 1am on a Sunday night. Will definitely go back and make it a regular stop on our vacations to Hilton Head.
(5)E J.
This is a great stop if you are in the mood for pizza, subs, or burgers. We had a large pizza(8 slices) and it was very good. The crust is very thin and crispy. Mick's sub was filled with sausage and meatballs. It had very good flavor. The side of chips were a little overdone. The dog bowl literally came out in a dog bowl. It contained a hamburger, hotdog, chili, fries, and coleslaw. Service was exceptional. Our server had a large party and other servers and the manager were attentive to our table. Would recommend and we will be back!
(4)Steve R.
Great pizza and extremely reasonable prices. Toppings were great crust was crispy. Great atmosphere of old School pizza joint!
(5)D L.
First pizza on the island; would definitely go back. Super friendly, clean and very tasty. Busy but fast service. As we waited for our table (10 min. wait...YES!) I saw lots of takeout, going out, which is always a good sign. While there is a bar with big screens, it's very family-friendly. Our appetizers came out in minutes, the pizzas right behind that and we left happy. The kicker for me was watching the owner hustling. Bussin' tables, hi-fivin' customers, checking the kitchen. Dude owns it and shows it. Love that in a place. Simple: eat pizza here.
(5)Ron C.
Family friendly and great food. One of the least expensive meals we had in Hilton Head-the large pizza fed my family of four. We had the Pete's Meats and it was very good. We also had the chili cheese fries as an appetizer. The fries were fantastic. The chili and cheese was appropriately portioned-it didn't bury and soggy the fries. Great place. Very family friendly.
(4)T B.
Not bad. Simple and no frills decent quality. Clean. Pleasant staff. I've only had their pizza, but their entrées like lasagna look really good. Will try something other than pizza next time.
(3)Chris S.
W ordered subs including the meatball and portobello mushroom subs. They also fixed grilled chicken for my son, who has food allergies. The chef came out to the table to talk to him about options, which not surprisingly were limited. We enjoyed our meal at fat baby's.
(5)Mike F.
Pizza was OK, nothing special. Friendly staff bright kid friendly atmosphere. Reasonable prices.
(3)Dean H.
Used Yelp to select Baby's for lunch after a round of golf. Both my son's meatball sub and my Italian sub were outstanding! Kind of a self-service place, you place your order at a cash register and they bring it to you or call you out, but the guys behind the counter were great. Definitely going back next time I'm in HHI!
(5)Cyndi R.
Staff is friendly. The food is Awesome. Off the beaten path but close to town. We had the Fat Baby's signature, ingredients are fresh and the crust is light and delish! 2 thumbs up.
(5)Cindy M.
The pizza was good - really good! The service was great; kind, quick, and helpful.
(4)Paige L.
We stumbled across Fat Baby in an effort to find a reasonably priced dinner with good quality food. Other Yelp reviews are what led us here and it was an awesome find. The thin crust pizza is topped with the freshest of ingredients and is delicious. The kids both devoured their meatball subs, served in those tasty Amoroso rolls. Service is friendly and the owner routinely walks around to make sure things are going well (and to make people laugh - Pete is truly a kid at heart). The menu has enough of a range that everyone can find something. The outside patio is delightful. And the best part was dinner for four - all of whom were stuffed and departed with some leftover pizza - cost around $40. It was such a great night that we are heading back again tonight.
(5)Janice B.
As winter residents and chef in family we have searched for years for great quality pizza on HHH. We finally found Fat Babies from other reviews and it is now the only place we either eat in or get takeout for Great pizzas and salads! Fun And always freshest ingredients for good value!
(5)Regina D.
It was okay. I gave three stars because the fries and potato chips were excessively salty. I mean salt lick! The Calzone was pretty good.
(3)Kayla B.
I LOVED it here! I am here for a staff retreat. Myself and one of my co-workers were up late and it was difficult for us to find a place to eat around 10pm that wasn't ridiculously expensive. I finally found this place and it was only about 5 minutes from our resort. Great staff, super friendly! It was a local hole in the wall and that was exactly what I was looking for. The food was great! We had the Margherita Pizza and oh it was melt in your mouth delicious. We are going back each day we are here. Their subs looked amazing so I will be trying one. They have cute little coloring pages for the kids that you can color and place on the wall yourself wherever you like. Mine is on the wall :) Great place, I urge you to try it :)
(5)Lillian P.
Went to the beach and decided to find a nice pizza place to order and take back to the hotel. I was amazed at the test. I lived in NY for awhile and this was one of the best pizza's I have had in GA. Perfect crust and cheese ratio just Yummy!. Definitely try.
(5)Paul D.
Great food, it's not the same old franchise food, thank god there are still a few privately owned places
(5)Greg L.
I came in at 7 pm to order their signature calzone. 45 minutes later I asked the waitress if there was a problem. "They messed up a bunch of orders," she admitted. "They are making new ones." How long would that require? "Just 10 minutes." Well a half hour went by and still nothing. During this time I witnessed a nearly full restaurant clear out to maybe a dozen clients. After asking the waitress for an update, she left flustered. I then intercepted the manager, who I recognized, after hearing him give an apology to a table of 20. I told him that I was diabetic and had given myself insulin soon after ordering and was probably close to hyperglycemia. That is passing out from too much insulin which can lead to death. He brought me a brownie, and then 10 minutes later a calzone. The calzone was good, but I I had to listen to the waitress apologize to the table behind me (they gave your calzone to someone else, they'll have to make you a new one). Nearly 2.5 hours to get a calzone! An impressive feat, and while the epic incompetence was memorable, I doubt that I will ever seek a repeat performance. The manager was " nice " enough to allow me a 20% discount.
(1)Mike W.
The Pizza and Calzone was excellent! We were also impressed with the quality and speed of service even though the place was packed. If you are visiting HHI, Fat Baby's should be on your list of places to eat.
(5)Julie W.
This was our pick of a new pizza place to try while were in Hilton Head and we were pleasantly surprised. We had read an earlier review that mentioned they almost didn't go in because of where it was located and had I not seen that we honestly might not have tried it. It looks a little dirty from the outside....but it was well worth it! The garlic knots were awesome and the pizza was good too! The staff was really friendly and nice and I loved the baby pictures on the wall. I'd definitely go here again!
(3)Steven B.
Pizza was decent. My only issue honestly was that the sauce is way too watery. Nice people and a nice place though.
(3)Sue S.
After reading all the glowing reviews I was anxious to have a great pizza pie. My husband and I decided to call for carry-out so perhaps that's part of the problem. We ordered the veggie pizza and added pepperoni (we like lots of veggie but are also meat lovers). The pizza was luke warm (again, that may be our fault for wanting carry out) but the bottom of the pizza was burnt and the edges were too over cooked (burnt) to eat. The veggies were chopped so finely that you couldn't tell where the peppers were vs. onions. Not a lot of sauce either. Overall, a disappointing experience.
(2)Mike G.
Insanely great pizza and service! We sat up at the pizza bar and watched these two guys (pizza making machines) make a billion pizzas a second. YUMMY YUM!!!
(5)Mike Z.
Great local place. They were busy but got us seated quickly. Prices were reasonable, appetizer came out quickly, Fat Baby pizza was a great pie. My first time to Hilton Head and I highly recommend a visit. They really cared about making each customer happy.

As good as pizza gets. We like a pizza with toppings that weren't listed but had the ingredients so they said sure we can make it. They did a good job and we ordered a large so we will have some for tomorrow.
(5)Kim P.
This pizza is phenomena. When it comes to pizza, I often pull out the "I'm from New Jersey" card because I consider myself to be a pizza expert. I know what's good, and Fat Baby's is. After a quick stroll around Harbour Town, my mom and I had a craving for pizza. I quickly looked up nearby places on Yelp and came across Fat Baby's--almost 5 stars was enough for me! When we arrived the aroma was amazing. The place is extremely casual and non-pretentious, the way a pizza place should be! We took our seats at the bar where we were greeted by the funny and nice guys behind the counter. We just got a plain cheese pie to split and we're glad we did. Great thin, crispy (but foldable) crust, bubbling hot pizza and an amazing taste!
(5)Bill F.
I used yelp to find them and they had best reviews, so I figured I try them out. Not bad NY pizza , nothing to get super excited about, a dime a dozen in a big city, but for here I guess good. A little pricy for me, we ordered 2 large cheese and 1 large meat pizza and it was 51$... A bit too much for me, even for hilton head. I'll try another place next time just to see.
(3)Erica P.
Visited Fat Baby's last night after we stumbled across it through Yelp and TA. While on vacation we like to find places where the locals go and stay out of the tourist traps. This place nailed it!! Born and raised on the Jersey shore and now in GA, I was so happy to find a pizza place that wasn't a chain and had pizza like back home. It was a simple restaurant, everyone friendly, and the pizza was DELISH! Definitely coming back before our vacation is over. Had the PMS and thought it was great!!
(5)Michelle S.
the pizza was great. my kid ordered chicken fingers and they were inedible. cold beer but the A/C barely works. but this is hands-down the best pizza on HHI.
(4)Jae L.
Thin crust pizza is the closest NY style pizza I've had since being home in NY... I think it's a family run business, but they are all friendly and would definitely return for a pie and try their sandwiches.
(4)Katie M.
Average pizza, not bad but not over the top delicious. We ordered take out pizza and salads and the wait time was 40 minutes. When we arrived 40 minutes later the pizza was not ready....we had a couple of drinks while we were waiting in nice atmosphere.
(3)Josh L.
We were in the mood for some pizza and have tried others on the island in past years. Nothing before was exciting or made us want to come back so we searched and found Fat Baby's. We now have our pizza and sub place to come back to year after year. The pms pizza was awesome and the Italian sub was even better. So glad we ordered extra so we can have leftovers for tomorrow!
(5)Aaron B.
Great Pizza!! Great Price!! You won't be disappointed! The service was fast and friendly. Another establishment that you will enjoy!
(5)Myra H.
I recommend sitting at the bar. There are several draft beer choices. The pizza is very good. Wings spicy. Local customers. Looking forward to returning.
(4)Jordan D.
Loved this place. We're from out of town and were recommended this restaurant by some locals. It didn't disappoint. Friendly service, great pizza, and a close bike ride from our rv resort. Couldn't get much better.
(5)Susan M.
This was our first time eating at their new location. We definitely enjoyed the new atmosphere but we were a little disappointed in the pizza. The size of the large pizza seemed to be a bit smaller this time around. It also was very soggy and we felt it wasn't cooked long enough. We will give it another try as we have always enjoyed their pizza in the past.
(3)Scott T.
This place was awesome! Great pizza and a wonderful start to our trip to HHI. We had the Pi's Pie, and it was great. Tangy sauce, super thin crust, piping hot, everything you could possibly want in a good pie. Love the ambiance! We're hooked.
(5)Elaine T.
Always great service, good atmosphere, and of course amazing food! :)
(5)John H.
Great sandwich just a little off the main drag, worth the drive. Pizza looked good and staff very friendly. I'd give 4.5 if it were possible.
(4)Mandy M.
Had a delicious salad! Highly commend the Cesar!
(4)Gregory C.
We had the PMS, fat baby, and 3 cheese calzones. They were all huge and tasted great. We had enough left for lunch the next day. This is a great place for a quick bite when you get on the island. .

On my visit to Hilton Head Island, my friends and I ate at so many expensive dinner places, but none of the establishments were to rave about. Actually, they were disappointing especially for the prices. We decided to try a different route and look for something inexpensive and hidden. We found this via Yelp and decided to give it a try. I tried to order the nachos for appetizers but oddly, the "owner"? / cashier told us that was their least ordered item, yet they were out of salsa. Couldn't order the chips and salsa for that very same reason. We ordered a large Fat Baby pie and liked it. The dough was thin yet not fall to pieces thin - just enough dough. It had somewhat of a crunch to it which was a good consistency. We enjoyed it enough to come here for a second time on another day and ordered the bbq chicken pie. Again, the pizza itself was thin yet crunchy throughout. Toppings are generous and service is friendly. They have bottled beers served with chilled glasses and free soda refills. They have a juke box that plays music that's not too blaring that you can't hear the person across from you. This place is not fancy at all - just a local pizza shop with a handful of tables (perhaps 8 or more tables) and bar seating. I would definitely recommend this place for pizza.

My wife and I prefer pizza that is fresh, not overly buttery in the crust, tossed and thin. fat Baby's gets a perfect score on all the above. We also prefer a "local" place, where you'd go if you lived there. Again, perfect score. We prefer fresh, not frozen ingredients. Perfect again. We like places that are not pretentious. Perfect score. If you like Papa Johns- you ain't gonna like this place. Dominos? You're gonna hate this place. If you went to Chicago and thought Giardono's was "excellent" this place is not going to please. If Pizza Hut Pan Pizza with its greasy deep dish sounds like "YOUR" pizza, Fat Baby's is not going to be your place. But if you like "our" kind of pie, Fat Baby's is going to be a happy place for you, baby!! Great beer in the bottle- New Castle and Fat Tire seem to be some of the few favorites- they're mine. Don't come expecting white table cloths, just good pie and beer.

Great pizza! Went for lunch with the wife while on vacation. Pizza is as good as it gets - and this is coming from a New Yorker! We had the Pi's Pie, basically a margherita style pizza with peperoni! Amazing! Great atmosphere, good music from the jukebox and a decent beer selection! If you are looking for great pizza on HHI, this is the place to go!
(5)Ronald A.
I hardly give 4 stars but this place is the best pizza in the island. Coming from the NYC tri state area, I know what good pizza should be. Staff are very very nice, Attentive and does not discriminate. The thickness is perfect and the favors are so rich delicious! We will come back here again.
(4)Chris W.
One of my favorite places for some pizza or a great sandwich for lunch or dinner. A little off the beaten path, but worth the quick turn onto Arrow road. Try the Py's pie or the best french dip on the island! Never dissapoints!
(5)Don S.
My wife and I had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon and though we both had salads instead of their famous pizza and subs the meal was very good. I could see them making and hand tossing the dough and it is clear they put a lot of love into their food. Nice job !!
(4)Rob W.
Fun place to go for great subs and pizza. They really make you feel like you're a local hanging out at a friend's place.
(5)Mohammad N.
Pizza is okay. Just okay.
(3)David M.
Great pizza, great service, and very family friendly. Bonus: Johnny Cash tunes in the jukebox.
(4)Jen L.
We think this is the best pizza on HHI now...it's totally laid back/old school atmosphere gives it a ton of charm and the pizza is authentic NY style pizza. It's a busy place....even when we arrived at 9:30p, but just call ahead if you are in a rush. Or if not, hang out, enjoy the jukebox and yummy pizza!! Great place for kids!!
(5)Wood W.
Great thin crust NY style pizza. Had pepperoni and sausage that was outstanding. Sausage is homemade by Fat Baby's!
(5)Michelle S.
Fat Babies is a local pizza joint off the beaten path. If you are looking for gourmet pizza this is not for you. Fat Babies makes a good thin crust pepperoni pizza, of course they have the usual array of ingredients but sometimes I am just in the mood for pepperoni. This is what pizza was before it got all fancy and this is where you take the kids. As a matter of fact this is where a lot of the local sports end of season pizza parties end up at. I have tried several sandwiches also. I liked the meatball sub it was good and not full of garlic powder, something I cant stand. I also had the Reuben and it was good, but I go here when I am in the mood for pizza so that is what I order.

Went for lunch with the Mrs. She had the french dip sub - was very good. They have good rolls. I had the Fat baby sub - also great. nice toasty roll, great meats and plenty of them. I was impressed at how tender everything was and the flavors were all great - I don't know what they put on it, but it was great. I had the slaw as a side - I'd do that again. I'd like to try their pizza some time - it looked like they knew what they were doing, and they had some good old fashioned pizza ovens.

It was a rainy night on the island and we knew finding a place to eat was going to be quite the ordeal. We were craving pizza and found this place on Yelp. It was slightly off the beaten path so while other places (read: mellow mushroom) had an hour and a half wait, we were able to walk right in and order. The pizzas were really good; for four of us we ordered two larges. One had pepperoni and pineapple, the other Italian sausage, pepperoni, and black olives. Both were really good, though we all thought the second one was the best because of the increased toppings. Having ordered the larges, we had two slices of each pizza leftover for breakfast the next day!
(4)Michael W.
This place is great. Fantastic pizza, probably the best on the island. And the staff is super cool and friendly. They took the time to get to know us in the short time while we were there, giving us the impression that they actually care about their guests, even if they are out of owners. Don't bother searching for another place, get your pie here.
(5)Jessica V.
Great pizza, subs, and service! I have been a frequent customer since I moved to the island in 2012. Always a welcoming atmosphere...the staff makes it a point to know their customers by name. You have to try the lasagna special on Thursdays! Fun time, good food, don't miss out on Fat Baby's!
(5)Melissa T.
What a great little place! People were right about coming at the right time. We must have timed it right to get a booth for 5. Immediately after we arrived, the rush came and it was packed! I overheard the carryout time was 1 hour wait! Definitely worth it, good food. We had the knots and large pizza. I'll definitely be back again next vacation!
(4)Donna M.
Just what your neighborhood pizza place should be. Friendly, fresh ingredients and great food. We had the margarita pizza with chicken added--EXCELLENT. Sandwiches and salads looked very tasty. Our only recommendation is you open one on Padre Island Texas.
(5)jc m.
If you like NY style pizza, go here. Period. My advice, the plain slice is great as it is. If you're in the mood for a sub, the Fat Baby sub should be your first choice.
(5)Shawn G.
Just saw this place was the highest Yelp Rated pizza joint on the Island, gave it a try and I'm glad that we did! Very good New York style pizza! Thank Yelp for the help! Great choice!
(4)Casey A.
Awesome pizza place. Off the beaten path, hidden from tourist and loved by locals. Great place to eat on vacation.
(5)Jim C.
Gotta go here if you are in Hilton Head and want pizza. Done
(5)T S.
We were super-hungry and this pizza hit the spot! The ingredients were fresh and the crust was perfect. It actually reminded me of one my fav pizza joints in Chicago-Piece.

We were fed up with the long wait times in restaurants and at our resort this week because of spring break, especially because we have an impatient toddler and fussy newborn, so we decided to order pizza and take it back to our hotel room. We used Yelp and found this highly rated place. We ordered a caesar salad and a medium cheese pizza and were told it would be 40 minutes. We arrived 35 minutes later and our order was ready. Eating in wouldn't have been an issue, there were two empty booths at 6:30, but it looked like they had a huge stack of take-out orders. I should have known better and checked the pizza before leaving but our baby was crying in the car. Turns out the pizza was overcooked and the pizza was burnt on the bottom and top was hard and dark orange. It wasn't worth calling them to let them know since we were leaving in the morning, so to be fair, I'm not sure if they would have offered a resolution, but it's not like we would have driven back there for a new one. They should have realized this pizza was bad before putting it in the box. The salad was fine, nothing special.

After a day on the boat, we stopped in to pick up pizza for dinner. Awesome! Next time, we will dine in. The food was amazing! Special thanks to Cool Cat Charters for the recommendation.
(5)Teresa B.
We got take-out pizza here based on the yelp reviews, and were very disappointed. The thin crust was overcooked and tough and the flavor of the pizza (and we tried two) below average. The staff were very nice, but I sure can't recommend the food.
(2)Dan L.
Very good pizza. Seems like a place locals go. If I lived on HHI, I'd be eating here a lot.
(5)Jordan B.
Great pizza - some of the best I've had and I am originally from Chicago so I know good pizza. The taste of the pizza marguerite is a bit unusual, but I liked it. The usual three white wines and three red ones are available and the red I had was good. The ambiance is pizza parlor ambiance with friendly people behind the counter and a regular clientele. I will be back and recommend it highly.
(4)Melissa R.
best pizza on hilton head
(4)Lovanna L.
Fat Baby has good pizza but it is not cheap pizza. A large supreme pizza is 16 inches and it will run you around $22. A large pizza with mushrooms and sausage is around $18 as well as a large pepperoni cost around $16. Having said that, their pizza is really really good. The crust is a thin flaky crispy crust. The toppings are really fresh on the supreme pizza and you can taste all the different toppings in every bite. The supreme was the best followed by the mushroom & sausage and then the pepperoni.
(3)k c.
ordered carry out (1/2 pepperoni 1/2 cheese, well done), very friendly & efficient order taker... pick up couldn't have been better... great, friendly staff... warm greeting on entry, they pulled the pie out and asked how it looked & if it needed more time... put it in for a few minutes, came out perfect... quality pie, enjoyed by the entire family (that's very rare)... great staff, great pie... will return...
(5)Beth B.
We ordered a medium pizza and another one in the party got a sub. We also started out with cheesy garlic bread and for something so simple it was really tasty. They were fantastic and the service was great. Casual atmosphere and it wasn't crowded but come early b/c when we left it was getting packed.

This is fast becoming a favorite of mine on Hilton Head. There are actually a decent number of good pizza places around but this one has gotten better and better over the years. Crust is perfect comination of crunchy and chewy. Sauce is simple but is just right and never over done. Really I can't think of anything bad to say about the food. I've tried several of the specialty pizzas and salads as well as just popping in for a quick slice at lunch. VERY friendly service. I also buy dough balls there fairly frequently when we make pizza at home.

Loved everything we had. We visited with 2 families and 8 people total. The 4 kids shared a large pizza and were very happy. The adults started with garlic knots and meatballs. Both of which were so good we dared not share with a single kid keeping them all to ourselves. One of us ordered a margarita pizza slice(added chicken), the other a meat/cheese calzone, another the parmasean chicken sandwich, and finally a caprese salad. We shared everything! EThe portions were huge so each of us had a little of all the food and it was delicious and filling. My favorite had to be the calzone. A definite must.
(5)Michelle L.
Reminded me of a Mom and Pop shop (it actually probably is). Easy dinner spot, no frills or anything fancy. Just a good environment to relax and get some pizza and sandwiches, or a Greek salad if you're in the mood for something less greasy. Dinner here won't break your budget and you'll enjoy that family-environment feeling where you can comfortably ask your server for recommendations and variations to your meal while casually chatting with your neighbors at the table over. Fat Baby's seems like a staple on the island for locals and guests alike, giving off the vibe that everyone's family and all are welcome.
(4)Jodi L.
I really loved my calzone and so did my daughter. My husband ordered one with mushrooms and was disappointed that the mushrooms were canned with the amount of made fresh ingredients. There's a little gelato stop around the corner to round out the night in Italian style. I would stick with a traditional cheese with awesome garlic and other flavoring for a simple yet delicious option. The mor ingredient the less satisfying in our experienceS.
(4)David B.
We had a Pete's Meat pie and it didn't disappoint. Kinda hard to either wow or disappoint with something such as pizza, so we decided it was very good, just didn't blow our socks off. Wife had an antipasto salad which was large and more than satisfactory to her. Beer selection was a little limited, but overall a good experience.
(4)Tisha N.
Ordered carry out for an easy dinner while on vacation. Everything was great. The fat baby was piping hot and delicious. Quick service and very pleasant.
(4)Russ B.
This review has been a long time coming. Fat Baby's is definitely a staple on the Island. Great pizza and sandwiches, fresh ingredients, service is good and the owner is a long time local. Pretty much raised in Philly so I know my pizza. Been living in Bluffton since 2007. Used to drive to Georgia for a decent pizza. Giuseppi's forget about it!
(5)Ken R.
Phenomenal pizza (although more Southern than NYC style) Ambience is a little loud, because of all the sports-playing TVs and kid-friendly theme. The salads are large enough and it's a good family value.
(4)Chuck K.
Good pizza with good service. Full bar and good choice of beers. Might suggest salad come before pizza.
(4)Kelly H.
We got a pizza and it was okay. Very greasy though. I didn't care for the crust either.
(3)Lauren R.
This place is probably great, but I'm trying to just view their menu online. It seems their tshirt and souvenir sales are top-priority. Hey guys- make your website more user-friendly. I also feel weird navigating a website where viewing the menu requires me to click on "eat baby".
(4)Michelle H.
Very good pie. Slices are Huge they are the size of a 1/4 of a pie in NJ. Very nice staff and service . A class act all the way around.
(5)Lexy S.
Great pizza. Boyfriend is an avid pizza lover and this is a must have. They don't do delivery, which speaks volumes on their level of expertise on how much they love their pizza. Great beer selection as well!
(5)Jackie G.
Ordered take out pizza and bruschetta for an easy dinner, and we were thoroughly disappointed. We got the py's pie and artichoke bruschetta. The pizza was mediocre.. Crust was hard and sauce was super salty. The bruschetta was so ridiculously salty that we only ate a couple bites. Yuck! As I was paying I ended up adding a cheesecake bite dessert to my order. That ended up being the only tasty part of our meal. You're better off with a frozen pizza thang ordering take out from here.
(2)Elizabeth R.
This was our second trip to Fat Baby's - loved it last year. This year we ordered large salads as entrees and the kids shared a pizza. Everything tasted great. Our only complaint was that the salads were very small for larges. They had plenty of toppings but very light on lettuce. For $7 and no meat - it was skimpy. Service was just okay. Hate when pizza is served before plates. Might try another pizza place before coming back here again.
(3)Anthony B.
We had the Petes Meat, BBQ chicken and Hawaiian all three were just ok, BBQ chicken was our favorite out of the three.
(3)Jennifer J.
Great local pizza place. Had the Py's Pie and it was quite tasty. I would definitely recommend it.
(4)Megan G.
We walked in and no one spoke to us for several minutes. We were finally seated and no one came to our table for at least 10 minutes. We had to go ask the Hostess if someone was going to help us. The brusetta was not good, but the pizza was. We may give them another try when we visit again.

We went to this place with great anticipation because we were big fans of Paulie's Coal Fired Pizza, its predeceasor at this location. In a two week span in early 2013 we dined at Paulie's three times, we liked it so much. This place is NOT Paulie's however, and their pizzas, based on our observations near the cooking area, were simply with a electric or gas pizza commercial oven. First, our credentials--I've eaten pizza at Patsy's and John's Pizza in Manhattan. John's on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village is the number one touted Pizzeria in The Pizza Book, which I bought years ago and tried to remake several of the pizzas. I used to use tiles in my oven and even a splatter screen as the base for the pizza. We've also had pizza in Napoli area of Italy--the home of pizza. We've even visited a Buffalo Mozzarella farm in south Italy and sampled the freshest best Buffalo Mozzarella possible. Having said this, our belief is that pizza, at its heart, is basically bread and cheese and possibly a sauce. Everything else is optional. You get either of these three things wrong, it's not going to be the best--and first and foremost is the bread. Both us were convinced this bread was a mix. We thought it actually tasted like Bisquick. I frequently eat the pizza crust end pieces my wife sometimes leaves because I simply love good pizza bread. I did not eat her end pieces here. Good pizza bread is a hard to achieve perfection of dough and yeast, rising times, some with salt added, temperature of the oven, the surface for cooking, etc. This pizza? The dough was the worse part. The sauce, fine. No complaints. The cheese? Fine, no complaints. (I didn't see any Buffalo Mozzarella cheese.) Our meat toppings in fact were excellent. My wife actually ate a slice by pulling the toppings off and leaving the crust. Come on, admit it! We've all done that occasionally! In looking at the Margherita Pizza on the menu I noticed "crushed garlic" and "fresh homemade mozzarella cheese". I have no idea where they get their "homemade" mozzarella--I didn't ask--but you don't put garlic at all on a Margherita Pizza if you understand the history of this pizza made for King Umberto's wife, and after all, garlic is not something a queen needs to have on her breath--at least according to 19th century Neapolitans! Anyway, the place was packed on Saturday night. The local cops were eating there--always a good sign in my book--plenty of kids there. We enjoyed going, but only rate the pizza a 6.5 on our 1 to 10 scale. Paulie's on the other hand, rated 8.5 or so. Fresh Pizza in Black Mountain NC, where we live rates a 9.5. We understand pizza economics: it is very hard to fine a person who can tend fire properly and cook pizza in a fire. It much easier to find a guy who can stick the pizza in a constant temperature baking oven and get the pizza out when the timer goes off. The first is an art, the second isn't. And artists cost money and are hard to find, and you have to raise prices to pay him, etc. But it's NOT the best Pizza on Hilton Head. But it is a good place for kids and it's not bad pizza, just above average, in out opinion.
(3)angela l.
Maybe our standard is higher coming from Chicagoland? Highly recommended by a local as the best pizza at HH Island actually was just ok- nothing to write home about. Extra point for not too salty.
(3)Rick F.
The wings are amazing. Best kept secret on the menu. The pizza slices are huge and one of the best deals on the island. Solid selection of beers to wash down the delicious food.
(5)Krisha B.
Great service, well trained staff, good alcohol selections. The pizza is on a thin crust, not too much sauce or cheese.
(4)Jackie H.
Greatest subs! Huge portions and hand cut fries. The original fat baby is the way to go it pretty much has everything but the kitchen sink on it and it was awesome! You will definitely leave feeling like a fat baby so maybe skip breakfast if you go for lunch! We also tried their pizza it's a very thin crust and out of the three Petes meat, Hawaiian and the margarita the margarita was the best! Very fun atmosphere enjoyed looking at all the colored fat baby pictures created by the patrons. Make sure you take a picture with the little fat baby mascot.
(5)Kateryna G.
Excellent thin crust pizza. We got a take out and the service was very quick.
(4)Daniel G.
Fried mozzarella is homemade and you can tell. Cheese is gooey and absolutely delicious! We did the Fat Baby sub and it was awesome. Would definitely return to try something else.
(5)Lina D.
Garlic knots is ok Veggie pizza is good Salad good Service good Overall as expected Nothing remarkable
(3)Jeremy S.
Surprisingly solid! Wandered in off the street and was happy. Good pizza for sure. Huge slices. They make the kids happy with crayons etc. Sandwiches are good too. So are the salads. We were in town for a week and ate here a few times for the good food/prices and super easy in/out compared to the mad rush to get a bite elsewhere on the island. Nice owner too. Try it.
(4)Tim C.
Booty! Grease ball pizza. If you want to feel like crap...go for it. $50 meal to feel like you ate 50 gallons of grease. Shape up fat baby!
